Description: "The town has worked during the last 20 years to protect the local sites that are important for biodiversity. There are now about 6 local NGO´s dealing with ecotourism, bird watching,
and, land protection, environmental education in primary schools and other conservation actions. The municipality is now handing over administration of the local protected areas to these organizations. Also, there are more than 20 private reserves in the town and the presence of a small PA of the national level (3000 has)."
